Wuhan Coronavirus Outbreak

The novel coronaviruses, named 2019-nCov, which causes a type of pneumonia, was first identified in Wuhan, China. Such a disease outbreak caused millions of people unable to unite with their families during the Chinese New Year, which is the only time in a year when they can go home. We have reached out to factories in China who will manufacture supplies for the doctors and patients battling Coronavirus in the frontline.

Jumbo GuidepostRescue Sri Lanka elephants

Balancing economic development and animal protection has al ways been difficult for many developing countries. When people expand the land for cultivation and construction, it will destroy the habitat of wildlife. As a result, increasing human- animal con flicts have erupted, especially in Sri Lanka.

In Sri Lanka, Elephants hold symbolic, cultural and economic importance. However, very year on average over 250 elephants and 70 people are killed as a result of human elephants conflict (HEC). The conflict is mainly caused by water shortage and the destruction of elephant habitat.

Due to special climate, Sri Lanka is under chronic drought threat especially the North Central Province. Drought can cause food shortages, which led to elephants invading villages to eat crops. As a result, the North Central Province has been reported the most serious HEC happened area.

The study will force on the Polonnaruwa district of the North Central Province, where elephants reserved habitats are overlapping with villages, farmland and primary roads. Environmentally friendly and low maintenance strategies are proposed to slove the HEC problem.

Coast Rebuild Resurgence of Hunts Point Dock

Nowadays, as the industrialization and urbanization developed rapidly, the coastal area is heavily occupied by industrial factories, as a result, residents have limited living and entertainment space. In other hand, industrial pollution also leads to the bad impact of marine ecology and breaking the city green corridors, making the city’s original coastline no longer attractive.

Hunts Point is a neighborhood located on a peninsula in the South Bronx of New York City. It is one of the largest food distribution facilities in the world. There are a lot of food processing factories and warehouse, limited green space causes many residents to be unable to maintain their physical and mental health

Hunt point is a peninsula where two-thirds of the land is bordered by sea. As sea level rise due to the greenhouse effect, hard revetment and terraces make the coastline neither attractive nor resistant to the potential flood risk. Bronx area in new York city has rich sailing culture, as there common free community acticities, community sailing aims to make sailing a staple of the south

Bronx waterfront. The study will design a sailing marina at hunt point that incorporate sailing elements, meeting resident’s recreational and living needs, adopting sustainable strategies to ensure ecological benefits and reducing flood risks as well.

Make Man-Groove Again

Climate change in Thailand is a severe issue, and its effects threaten to impact both human and natural systems in the whole country. Research data from 2020 suggested that especially Samut Prakan Province is at a risk of sea-level inundation. Over the past 40 years, the sea has encroached upon Samut Chin village’s coastline, swallowing up the shoreline. Accordingly, this project aims to remit erosion through reformation of shoreline landform and renovation of the littoral ecosystem by replanting the mangrove forest.

Mangroves play a key role in maintaining and protecting marine ecosystems. Their dense root systems hold the soil firmly while filtering contaminants from the water, improving the water that flows into the ocean. The design frames two phases of growing process to ensure steady renovation, gradually creating a mangrove forest with great ecological and economic value.

Taking Samut Chin village as a practical experiment, the project anticipates a highly resistant landscape design that has potential to be applied in any places which are threatened by climate change.
